The start of a new year is the perfect time to outline your resolutions and set goals for yourself. What’s one of the best parts of achieving a goal you’ve worked toward? Rewarding yourself afterward! By setting milestones and giving yourself meaningful rewards along the way, you can stay motivated and on track to achieve your long-term aspirations. Consider how you can integrate your employee recognition program to support personal resolutions alongside team goals.

How You Can Recognize and Reward Your Resolutions

Whether personal or career-related, create spaces where your team can share their goals for the year. Encourage collaboration by inviting those with similar goals to connect and support one another. Here are some ways to foster motivation and celebrate progress:

1. Milestone Based Rewards

Have your team break down their resolutions into smaller, achievable steps and reward them once they reach each milestone. If someone's goal is to complete a new certification, provide an award upon completion but while also recognizing progress along the way. This is a great way to break large goals up into manageable chunks and keep employees motivated throughout their journey.

2. Public Acknowledgement

Being acknowledged and congratulated publicly is a great feeling after reaching a goal. Use your platform to shoutout your team members for reaching their milestones and use that as a place for continued motivation and encouragement. New Year’s resolutions can become hard to keep up with as you move throughout the year but having ongoing support in your workplace is a great way to boost morale and workplace culture.

3. Company Wide Challenges

Many people pick up similar resolutions, so why not create opportunities for shared success?  Organize various challenges that align with common resolutions, such as fitness challenges or reading clubs. Find a way to provide company wide recognition for participants and keep up with everyone's progress throughout the year! This is a great way to build employee morale as the year starts.

4. Skill-Based Rewards

If someone’s resolution involves learning a new skill, reward their efforts with something that compliments their progress. For example, offer tools or resources from your rewards catalog that align with the skill they're developing. These thoughtful gestures keep excitement high and reinforce a culture of growth.

When you find a way to bring together recognition and rewards with your team's personal and professional goals, you foster a culture that prioritizes growth and support. When employees feel like their company is taking an interest in their resolutions, they are more likely to stay motivated, engaged, and loyal - which makes it a win for everyone. Start 2025 off strong by showing your team that you’re invested in their success - both in the office and out!
