Poll Says Employee Engagement is Personal

The Gallup Q12 Survey uses first-person, open ended questions to measure 12 workplace factors that link employee engagement to sales and growth. Gallup found that 10% of the population have the ability to effectively manage others, 18% of which are current managers. As a result, Gallup suggests employees take an active role in improving personal engagement with specific goals.

30% of all U.S. employees -- and a mere 13% of workers worldwide -- are engaged in their jobs.

Some of Gallup's suggested steps in enhancing personal engagement include:

  • Define your own engagement
  • Use strengths to form positive habits
  • Build an action plan for sustaining engagement
  • Be account for your own success
